With S3 Pro, taken during a visit to my grandmother in Gombong, Central Java.

This one was shot by my father, using HS10.

Summer 2011 Vacation - July - Flowers

Long time not posting. I was in summer vacation in Indonesia. Very happy been with my extended family. Visiting here and there.

Here some flower pics.

With HS10. It's still great for close-ups, the wide DOF, zoom, close focus, etc.

Children's cars and bikes

Just haven't got any chance to get decent photos, so snapped some of children's cars and bikes around our house. Still learning to manage different color profiles of software, blogspot and my laptop. Probably kind of unbalance color.

Garden around the National Museum

Just spent my time with my family, this morning was very beautiful. Not too hot, clear sky.
So, snapped some pics. Today is RAW photo day. And the results.... hmmm I like it.
Glad my HS10 still shines.

Only developed to JPG, adjusted contrast, shadow and highlight adjustment, and sharpen. Don't know if it seems to be oversharpened. Still need to learn more.

Enjoy,...

Comparing HS10's JPG and RAW

I've been busy with my thesis lately. I hope to finish it soon.

Just something came into my mind, what to hope from HS10's RAW. Before, I was feeling in no need of RAW, JPG is enough, mainly because the RAW with HS10 costs so much, regarding the writing time.
Still, want to know how the result will be.

So, I tried to find some RAW files, glad to find one. It was taken from the Rabee' Al-Riyadh Expo. Here is one comparison.
The first one is the JPG, the second is RAW.
Both only set to film color V1, nothing else.

Notice the diffference? The RAW seems hold the highlight and shadow very well, in addition to more detail, smoother color rendetion and transition. Still, need more practice to handle the RAW... But it worth...

All in all... just wonder, I should have started shooting RAW earlier. Nothing to regret, I will start now, and welcome to the new world of RAW photography.

Saqr Al-Jazeera Aviation Museum

Got a chance to visit it with my wife and children, we enjoyed our visit and took some photos. My daughters loved the airplanes so much, just like their father. :)

Not very good quality, cause I made a mistake by setting the HS10 on DR200 and Chrome, where in low light condition, it's likely causing noise and detail lost. Very minimalist PP, only noise reduction, sharpening and some exposure adjustment applied, and some level adjustment on some outdoor pics.

At least, I hope they worth seeing...

Shadow/highlight adjusted. Nice clouds.

Riyadh Spring Expo (Rabee' Al-Riyadh) 2011

Riyadh Spring Expo 2011, was ended last Friday, April 15th. It was a nice flower exhibition. Nice to see colors here. Here some pic of it. Light post-processing: exposure adjustment, reduce color and sharpen on most of the pic, except mentioned.

"Replica" Kindom Tower, nice idea.

This one is Al-Faisaliya Tower

Flowers in and around our greenhouse

Some flowers in the greenhouse, I think they belong to someone, kind of research. Nice flowers, still.

Cloudy sky

Last week, weather here in Riyadh was overcast, cloudy and some light shower several times. And this is how the mosque in King Saud University looked like yesterday. Taken with my TZ3.

Exposure adjusted and shadow/highlight adjustment, then noise reduction and sharpen.

And beautiful sun rays the day before. Little bit level and contrast adjusted, denoise and sharpen.

Beach Trip - Jeddah

Still during the student conference, the organizer facilitated us to enjoy a beach trip on a boat. Initially I was interested in visiting the old city, but it was canceled, might be because of lack of interest. So instead, I joined the beach trip.

Here some pics of it. Only slight crop and sharpen on some of the pics, except mentioned.  HS10 is really convenient for this kind of activity.

King Saud Mosque - Jeddah

Given a chance to deliver a presentation in a student conference in Jeddah. Near our hotel (Radissonblu) is a beautiful mosque, named King Saud ibn Abdulaziz Mosque. An old and grand mosque. Here some pics of it. Captured with my TZ3 and HS10. Processed a little bit, some shadow/highlight adjustment, denoise and sharpening.

Sun shade over a hall inside the mosque

Super moon (1 night late)

These days, the internet has been crowded with news about the moon, that the moon would be on the nearest point to our beloved Earth. It is said that the moon will be around 14% bigger compared to the size when it is on the farthest point.

So, two days ago I went out to find the moon, but unfortunately I was late, the moon was already quite high, and my daughters were with me in my car, so I could do nothing. Last night, I went out again after maghrib prayer, this time withoutters :).

I took a location near my university, in the parking area. It is an elevated area. I set up my camera and patiently waited. And finally I got some pics. Taken with my HS10 and tripod.

One night late, what is the difference 1 day in 18 years.

It is a result from two merged pics. I put the picture of moon I got around the same time, and resized to match the original size.

Here is the original pic.

And here is the moon.
